Clyde favourite, the paddle steamer Waverley has launched its schedule of summer sailings. From May 28 until June 21, sailing from the Glasgow Science Centre, Waverley will take passengers around the Western Isles. From June 25 until the end of August it sails ‘doon’ the Clyde to resorts like Dunoon and Largs. The Waverley is famous as the last sea going paddle steamer in the world and has a long association with the Clyde. Built on the Clyde in 1947 - to replace the original Waverley that sunk off Dunkirk in 1940, the Waverley was originally built to sail only between Craigendorran and Arrochar in West Scotland. She now sails right round Britain offering regular trips on the Clyde, the Thames, South Coast of England and the Bristol Channel.
